Support

How we support your lighting project from first enquiry

Start by sending your project details through the enquiry form on our contact page. Include your suburb, property type, rough size, photos if you have them and any timing pressures such as a shop opening, kitchen handover or municipal approval. That helps us direct your query to the right person quickly.

Our support team works with clients in Rosebank, Sandton, Pretoria, Midrand, Cape Town, Durban and Umhlanga. If your project is in a coastal area, or in a building with strict landlord rules we can guide the lighting choices and installation sequence so there are fewer delays on site.

What to include when you ask for help

The more detail you send, the faster we can advise. For example, a restaurant fitout needs different support from a family home or a retail frontage facing strong street light at night. If you are unsure, send what you have and we will help you sort the rest.

  • Property type and location
  • Room sizes or approximate metres
  • Current photos or a plan if available
  • Preferred installation dates
  • Any dimming, load-shedding or control concerns

We often assist where the brief changes part way through, so a clear starting point saves time and cost.

Technical guidance for architects, contractors and owners

Illumin8d provides practical support on concept design, fixture specification, layout plans and control design. That means we can help you choose fittings for ceiling height, finish, beam angle and maintenance access, not just appearance. If a site needs low-glare lighting for hospitality or stronger emphasis for a window display, we will spell out the options.

For build teams, we can support coordination around wiring points, ceiling setouts and installation sequencing. Johan and Sibusiso often assist with these details on site so the finished result matches the plan and no one is left guessing.

Support for shopfronts, restaurants and homes

Different spaces need different answers. Shopfronts need visibility from the road and clear product light. Restaurants need comfort, mood and enough light for staff to work. Homes need practical light for daily use, plus accent lighting for artwork, corridors and outdoor areas.

  • Shopfronts: window emphasis, sign area lighting and evening visibility
  • Restaurants: table lighting, bar detail and dimming control
  • Homes: living areas, kitchens, passageways and outdoor security light

We also advise on fittings that cope better with humidity, heat and frequent switching, which matters in many South African conditions.

After-install help and post install focusing

Once fittings are in place, we can assist with post install focusing so the light lands where it should. This is especially useful for feature walls, shelves, art and display areas where one small adjustment can make a big difference. It is also where a project goes from almost right to properly finished.

If you notice a hot spot, dark corner or a control setting that is not behaving as expected, let us know early. A quick site review is often enough to sort it out, especially when the final result still needs a few tweaks.

When you need a fast answer

Some support requests need immediate attention, like a fault after handover, a last minute fixture change or a retail opening that has moved up. Use the enquiry form and note that the matter is urgent, then include the site address and a clear description of the issue.

For faster help, attach any photos of the affected area and tell us what has changed since the original scope. That saves back-and-forth and helps us respond with the right next step, not a vague suggestion.
